Try Gliding

There are a number of ways that you can experience your first flight with the Welland Gliding Club. All of which are detailed below.

Trial Lesson. A trial lesson is the ideal introduction to gliding for those who are not yet fully decided whether they want to learn to fly or not. A trial lesson winch launch costs £30.00 and you will typically get between 5 - 20 minutes flying time depending on the weather conditions. There are two aerotow trial lessons, a 2000ft tow costing £65.00 giving you approximately 20 minutes flying time and a 3000ft tow costing £85.00 giving you approximately 25 - 30 minutes.

Temporary Membership. The most cost effective way of taking your first flights if you are already decided that gliding is for you. A 90 day temporary membership costs £50.00 and then all your flying is then undertaken at normal club rates. A Winch launch would be £7.00 and an Aerotow to 2000ft would cost £34.00. All flying in club gliders is charged by the minute at £0.30 per minute.

Group Flying Evenings. If there is a group of 10 or more that would like to make a social event of a trial lesson then a group flying evening is the best option. Normally these are done on a friday evening between May and mid September. A winch launch costs £25.00 with a typical flying time of 5 - 10 minutes an Aerotow if available would cost £50.00 for 2000ft..
