Winter Flying .
During the Winter months (November to February) Lyveden airfield can become too wet to operate from. Whilst we will endeavour to continue flying at Lyveden as much as possible over the winter, the state of the field will be reviewed each Friday evening by the CFI (Chief Flying Instructor) in consultation with our Duty Instructors. the CFI will, whenever possible, record a message on our BT phone line giving details of our flying plans for that weekend.
By ringing this number, 01832 205237, you will hear if we plan to fly as normal at Lyveden or if the flying has been moved to one of our nearby alternatives e.g. The Soaring Centre Husbands Bosworth or Saltby. If WGC members wish to fly at Husbands Bosworth, a temporary membership fee of £5.00 is payable to the Soaring Centre, but this covers you up to the end of February. There is no temporary membership fee payable to Saltby for WGC members.
Note: You are advised to ring after 7:30 p.m. on a Friday evening.
